Collector's Corner

Each of these restraints is out of production for several years, making them very interesting for collectors. If not described otherwise they are in used condition and were partially in official police use. Of course, each of these restraints is still fully functional.

ID: CL12D

Model: 12 D
Manufacturer: Clejuso (Germany)
Condition: used
Keys: 1 (original)
Weight: 300 g

Price: EUR 38.90

A real collector's item. Vintage official police handcuffs, made by Clejuso in the 1960ies. They are made of nickel plated steel. The restraint can be double locked by turning the key 360 degrees, which is quite difficult when the captive is non cooperative. A reason why they were replaced by the newer Clejuso models.

ID: CL12R

Model: 12 R
Manufacturer: Clejuso (Germany)
Condition: used
Keys: 1 (original)
Weight: 300 g

Price: EUR 36.90

Here we have the predecessor of the current German police handcuffs No. 11 and No. 12 (please also see "Germany"). Unlike the modern ones the 12 R use a solid key. Moreover the cuffs are connected by a three lined chain which is fastened by steel-loops instead of swivels. But they yet have the shape and the double locking mechanism of the modern Clejuso models. The cuffs are marked "Edelstahl rostfrei", which means that they are made of stainless steel.

ID: POLBW

Model: Police Baden-Wuerttemberg
Condition: used
Keys: 1 (original)
Weight: 250 g

Price: EUR 60.90

Such handcuffs were used in southern Germany (mainly in Baden-Wuerttemberg) after WWII. But it's possible that they are made in France, because the French manufacturer "Rivolier" produced a very similar restraint. The outer layers are of aluminium, the inner layer and the bows are of steel. The holes beneath the keyhole and in the bows are meant to extra secure and double lock the cuffs by means of padlocks.

ID: 15901

Model: 15901
Manufacturer: Alcyon
Condition: used
Keys: 1 (original)
Weight: 340 g

Price: EUR 49.90

Like the STAR handcuffs shown before, this old Alcyon high security model was in official Austrian police use, too. The production of Alcyon 15901 handcuffs was ceased about 10 years ago, making them a sought-after collector's piece nowadays. The cuffs can be easily and securely double locked via small push-pins, which are activated by the key-peak. To unlock the double lock the key must be turned against opening direction. Moreover there are two pawls and an additional rack-wheel as protection against shimming in each lock. The restraints are fully working and in used but good condition.

Price: EUR 59.90

This is a special version of the model shown above. There are only two instead of four rivets on the lock-case and the lock itself contains four instead of two separate ratchets for additional security. Otherwise they are identical to the standard 15901.

ID: SSTAR

Model: STAR
Condition: used
Keys: 1 (original)
Weight: 430 g (including holster)

Price: EUR 34.90 (better condition)
            EUR 24.90 (average condition)

The earliest STAR handcuffs of this type have been most probably made in the 1950s. Our pieces are from the 1970s and 1980s and are old Austrian police equipment. They are fully working and in used but good condition. The unusual shaped single locking cuffs are thicker than most other models and use a flat key. In every lock are two pawls and an additional rack-wheel as protection against shimming. Every Star handcuff comes with an used original police holster made of brown leather. Our pieces are available in two conditions - of course both are fully functional. But the average condition handcuffs and holsters show more significant signs of use and age (e.g. deeper scratches, a bit loss of plating or light surface rust). And please remember that also the "better condition" pieces show sings of use, because of age and usage.

Unfortunately we have no items in "better condition" in stock any more.

ID: H1960

Model: Hiatts - 1960
Condition: used
Keys: 1 (original)
Weight: 350 g

Price: EUR 64.90

Hiatt 1960 was the successor of the famous Hiatt Darby handcuffs, which were built for about 200 years. Like nearly all newer handcuffs, the bows of model 1960 can be swung through. Nevertheless this model is of very exceptional shape and is operated by a special round key without key bit. This key is also used for double locking the restraint (when turned counter opening direction). The handcuffs are fully working, the condition is good (at least 90% of the original plating left) and they come with an original key.

ID: LPDFR

Model: La Pegy - France
Condition: used
Keys: 2 (original)
Weight: 210 g

Price: EUR 49.90

These cuffs were made in the 1950ies or 1960ies in France. It is lightweight type with a body made of aluminium. The bows and the chain are made of steel. The restraint uses a flat key and has no double locking facility. The offered item is in good condition with only a few scratches. It's possible that it's an unused stock item, because it's in its original plastic bag with "Menottes La Pegy Deposee" writing on it. The edges are quite sharp and the springs are very strong. So this restraint does not match the standard for modern handcuffs and should be seen as a valuable collector's item and not as a restraint still meant for use. The handcuffs come with two original keys.

ID: M1985

Model: Manurhin Modele 1985 - France
Condition: used
Keys: 2 (1 each - original)
Weight: 300 g

Price: EUR 94.90

We managed to get a few of the rare French MANURHIN high-security handcuffs, with the official French police marks not removed. The cuffs are made of aluminum except of the steel bows and chain links, like the more common Rivolier cuffs, which are also offered in our "Collector's Corner". And like the Rivoliers they also have the second lock, which is a high security tumbler lock. This lock is used for double locking the cuffs and needs an additional key. But unlike Rivolier handcuffs the INNOTEC model has a right and a left cuff so the key-holes and bows always show in the same direction. The restraints are marked "MANURHIN", "MODELE 1985" and "POLICE NATIONALE" and were in official French police use.

ID: RIVSN

Model: Rivolier Type "Surete Nationale"
Condition: used
Keys: 1 (original)
Weight: 210 g

Price: EUR 60.90

At first glance these French light-metal restraints from the 1940s look like Police Baden-Wuerttemberg handcuffs, which can be seen and purchased in our "Collector's Corner", too. They can also be extra secured and double locked by padlocks, which are put through the holes beneath the keyhole and in the bows. In contrast to the German "Polizei" model, the French version has only four instead of five holes in each bow. Moreover the cuffs are a little bit smaller and they are connected by two chain-links instead of one large ring. The are marked "Surete Nationale" and were in official police use.

ID: R1955

Model: Rivolier Type 1955
Condition: used
Keys: 2 (1 each - original)
Weight: 250 g

Price: EUR 64.90

As suggested by the name, these French high security handcuffs of "Type 1955" were produced by the famous French weapon manufacturer Rivolier in the 1950s. At the very beginning of the 1970s they were dispatched by their successor "Type 72". Like many French handcuffs they are made of aluminum except of the steel bows and chain links. What makes this restraint very special is the second lock, which is a high security tumbler lock. This lock is used for double locking the cuffs and needs an additional key. The handcuffs are marked "Securite Nationale Type 1955". They are in very good condition, fully functional and come with one original key for each type of lock.

ID: R1990

Model: Rivolier Type 1990
Condition: used
Keys: 2 (1 each - original)
Weight: 290 g

Price: EUR 69.90

Like Type 1955 shown before, these handcuffs are made of aluminum except for the movable bows and the linkage. They also have additional tumbler locks for double-locking and extra security. As the model-name indicates, the restraint has been made in the early 1990s. They are quite similar to current Rivolier models (please also see our "France-Section") - differences can be found in the shapes of the swivels and of the reinforcement-bulges on the stationary bows.

ID: CARAB

Model: Carabinieri
Condition: used
Weight: 130 g

Price: EUR 17.90 (padlock not included)

These simple Italian chain handcuffs have their origin at the beginning of the 20th century, but they were still used by the Carabinieri (Italian police) in the 1980s. Very similar restraints are even in actual police use in Turkey nowadays. By threading the small end of the chain through both of the big rings you can build two loops, which closely surround the wrists of the prisoner. Afterwards the chain is secured by use of a padlock. Advantages of such chain handcuffs are their light weight and their possibility to adjust to nearly every wrist-size.

The padlock is not included!

ID: KKCKU

Model: Come along / chain nipper
Condition: used
Weight: 150-170 g

Price: EUR 13.90 / EUR 15.90 / EUR 17.90

We also have several vintage West German come alongs in stock. They are from between 1940 and 1980 and can be roughly subdivided into three categories, which are all shown on the picture. The nipper on the left is most likely a Clejuso No. 1, but we have several pieces, which are more or less different in shape of the handles or chain links. So it's also possible that there are similar models of other manufacturers in this category. The nippers of the second category (in the middle of the picture) are all marked with "K" on one or both handles. Many collectors think that they were made by Kayser, the famous manufacturer of the "Hamburg 8" handcuffs. The maker of the last model (right side of the picture) is unfortunately unknown. The main differences from this restraint to all our other nippers is the unusual shape of the larger handle and the thicker chain links. This is our rarest model, of which we only have a view pieces in stock.

Unfortunately the unknown chain nipper is already sold out.

The buyer also gets a photocopy of a vintage Heid & Roth nipper manual and a photocopy of an old letter promoting the advantages of this nipper, written by major Heid himself (in German language).
